Ghosts of Halloween Past

Ah, Halloween. A magical, wonderful time filled with candy, costumes, and craziness. I've always loved Halloween, if only for the reason that for one night you can be someone other than yourself. I've had some great costumes over the years but as I've grown older they've defintitely increased in greatness.

Freshman year of college I was Roger from Rent. Shannon was Maureen, Doug was Mark, Shannon's sister Kat was Mimi and Chris was....well....I don't know that we'll ever know what character Chris was. I think he just wanted to dye his hair green.

Continuing the Rent theme, a few years later I was Angel and Heidi was Mimi.

Doug's boyfriend at the time was also Mimi but his Mimi looked more like Gloria Estefan than Mimi Marquez....oh man I wish I had a picture of that right now...

Back to college - I was the Statue of Liberty one year.

With Amanda as the little goatherd or a German or something.

Every year we as a theater department would put on a Halloween show. They were great opportunites for us to showcase our creativity and just have a lot of fun. One year there was a "Pumpkin Ballet."

That same year we did a Rocky Horror number and I took the opportunity to channel my inner demon or...whatever I am.

Perhaps my favorite costume of all time was when Spencer, Doug, Jamie and I went as "Sex and the City."


I looked like ET with a wig on, Doug made his Miranda wig out of a pumpkin wig and Spencer as Charlotte was Asian but MAN did we have fun.

I still remember just how much work went into finding our costumes. We looked fantastic.

This year I'll be attending Halloween festivites as a pervy gym teacher. I've got the short shorts, the high socks (both courtesy of my Dodgeball uniform) the pervy mustache, yellow glasses, and a whistle. Basically my thought is to run around all night shouting "hit the showers, boys." It should be a fantastic time!

Last night was the Big Apple Dodgeball's Masquerade Ball. And if I do say so myself, I looked goooooooood.

I mean, come on. Amazing, right? Everyone really went all out last night, which was nice to see. Many celebrities were there including

Okay, that I cannot take. I mean, that's just like, infinite amounts of creepy, no? I'm actually in the school of thought that Masks = Creepy, but putting on an elephant mask just takes it to a whole new level. THANKFULLY, however, there were no clowns there. Phew.

I was feeling good, feeling skinny all night and then this walked in

which prompted me to put down my piece of pizza and instead reach for a carrot stick.

After some apple bobbing in Swine Flu water

a few dances, and plenty more beer, I was starting to reach Drunk Level 4 (anger) so it was time for me to head home. Having drinks after work with some work friends, then tomorrow it's off to a spooky corn maze and Saturday is Halloween...for which the gang and I still have no plans! Someone throw a party!

Someone from SYTYCD that makes me cry but in the BAD way?

Shankman. I envision saying it like Seinfeld said "Newman." Shankman really grew on me last season because we didn't see him much and he said some pretty great things but now he's back....and more annoying than ever. It's bad enough we're on the big stage. It's bad enough Mia's gone. But to make me watch Shankman every week? I don't know that I can handle it. I feel another nemesis being added to the list.

Ugh.

Tonight dodgeball is having a Masquerade Ball.

It should be veeeeerry interesting.

I'm hoping the ball is a little more "Gossip Girl" masquerade

And a little less "Eyes Wide Shut" masquerade.

Terrifying. I'll never forget renting that movie with KTaylor our Sophomore year of college. I fell asleep halfway through and she watched the rest of the movie frozen in terror at the people having orgies with masks on. An orgy with masks on is highly unlikely tonight but with the dodgeball people, well, you just never know.

A Tale of One Shoulder

Last night at Dodgeball.....

Yup. Dislocated my shoulder last night. But I put it in a sling and kept on playing! Why, you may ask? Because I'm Team Captain, and that's what Team Captains do!! Plus lots of cute boys bought me beers at the afterparty so it's totally a lose-win situation!

Paintball Wizard

Hoo Boy! What a weekend! I feel like I've been going going going since Friday at 5 pm but I'm not complaining. Still, it was one of those weekends where you need a "weekend from your weekend." Weekend. I just wanted to say it one more time. Definitely the highlight of my weekend (again with that word!) was Paintball yesterday in celebration of my friend JOcean's birthday. Bright and early (8:00 am on a Sunday?!) 20 of us met and traveled over land and sea to reach Cousin's Paintball in Staten Island, New York. I believe I said something to the effect of "We're taking a Ferry AND a Bus! I feel so Poor!" Along the way we encounted many amazing displays of fall color!

Paintball itself was an absolute blast. Our group loves any type of competition and Paintball allowed us to channel our inner war heroes. Brian jumping and diving over a barricade and shooting at the enemy? Oh yeah, it happened. Then More-O shot me in the shoulder and got me out.. Hellloooo...don't you know that true friends stab you in the front and not the shoulder? Really? Really? Get the with the program More-O.

No, YOU'RE a loser! Unfair ambush!!!

Guns and camo also allowed us all to channel our inner fashion models.

Who's Afraid of the Dark?

This Monday was group pictures at Dodgeball and my friend Kevin was the photographer. For the record, this is what happens when you're leaning on a bench, and someone walks by and says "Brian! Pose!"

For those who scoff at my visible panty line, all I have to say is....at least I'm wearing underwear. So there. Then Kevin tried to have my blow a bubble for a fun, kooky shot.

It's really hard to blow a bubble on cue, but Helllooooo chin dimple! I look a little tar tar here, a little gaunt/Ethiopian. Hey, I'm not going to complain, the skinnier the better. And no mother, I am not aneorexic. I had Chipotle for dinner last night and then egg whites w/ turkey and a cherry vanillia yogurt today for breakfast. And I didn't throw any of it up. So I'm eating, I don't want to hear it.

We finally succeeded in obtaining the 'bubble' shot.

Kinda. Kevin is actually a really talented photographer and is the go-to guy when it comes to Scissor Sisters gigs or appearances. And yes, I WILL be taking advantage of his connection to them next time they're in town, thank you for asking!

Had drinks last night and then for whatever reason thought it was a good idea to go to a midnight screening of "Paranormal Activity" with More-O.

My reasons for seeing it are threefold:

1. It was free.

2. Everyone was talking about the movie.

3. It was free.

For those who don't know, basically this movie is about a couple who is haunted by a demon.

A word to the wise -

DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE. There is some freaky ass shit in this movie and I am, for once, happy that I don't live in a house. I'll take my tiny apartment any day if it means I'm going to get harassed by a friggin demon.

Oh and if you see this girl on the street -


RUN AWAY!! :::shudder::: I don't know that I'll ever be able to sleep through the night again. I don't know which was worse - my decision to see this movie or my decision to see this movie at midnight on a work night (I done be TIRED yo!). But alas, my decision was fueled by my favorite word.

Fun weekend ahead filled with shopping, birthday parties, and paintball!
